DJI has released firmware update v01.04.0400 for the Mavic 3 series, and pilots should install it before their next flight. This update includes critical safety improvements and new features that affect flight performance.
The update addresses several stability issues reported in cold weather operations and improves obstacle avoidance sensor calibration. Battery management algorithms have also been refined to provide more accurate remaining flight time estimates.
What’s New in This Update
The firmware includes enhanced return-to-home functionality that better handles GPS signal variations during the flight path home. Pilots have reported smoother transitions between flight modes after installing the update.
For commercial operators, the updated firmware improves waypoint mission accuracy and reduces the delay between completing one waypoint and initiating movement to the next. This directly benefits mapping and inspection workflows.
New geofencing data has been added, including recently published TFRs and updated airport boundaries. Keeping firmware current ensures your drone recognizes the latest airspace restrictions automatically.
How to Update Your Drone
Connect your drone to the DJI Fly app while connected to WiFi. The app will prompt you to download and install available updates. Ensure your drone and controller batteries are above 50% before starting the installation process.
The update takes approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. Do not power off your equipment during installation, as this can corrupt the firmware and require a factory reset.
Check Your Current Version
Verify your firmware version in the DJI Fly app under Settings > About. Regular updates keep your drone flying safely and legally while taking advantage of performance improvements from the manufacturer.
